Grand River Hospital District Volunteer Association held their annual Volunteer Gala Friday, April 20 at the Grand River Hospital Conference Center in Rifle. Over 100 of Grand River’s volunteers attended this event in their honor entitled “Volunteers are Shining Stars”.
“We are so very thankful for our volunteers. We currently have over two hundred individuals who give of their time for such programs as Meals on Wheels, the Pet Therapy Program, our Gift Shop, as well as volunteers in some of our medical departments.” says Volunteer Manager, Kaaren Peck. She adds, “We couldn’t do all that we do without them! This evening is to show our great appreciation.”
The evening also honors the GRHDVA Volunteers of the Year. During 2011, there were 57 Young Adult Volunteers at Grand River Hospital District. This year’s Young Adult Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Tiffany Klausing. Tiffany began volunteering for GRHD in 2010 in the surgery department, stocking shelves and helping where needed. She also serves as the secretary for the GRVA.
The GRVA honored Larry Sweeney as this year’s recipient of the Volunteer of the Year. Larry currently serves as GRVA President and has been instrumental in helping the GRVA attain its 501c3 non-profit status. Larry delivers for the Grand River Meals on Wheels program and also can be found at nearly every GRVA event, including the Grand Chance for Chocolate and the Grand Wine Affair.
Congratulations to all of the volunteers at Grand River Hospital District for a job well done and putting in 7777 volunteer hours in the year 2011.
