6/28/2012, Rifle, Colorado: It is with great pleasure that Grand River Hospital District welcomes General Surgeon, Laura Medina M.D. and Family Physician Bonnie Walsh, M.D. to the Medical Staff team. Drs. Medina and Walsh will begin at Grand River Hospital and Medical Center in Rifle on July 2nd.
Dr. Walsh comes to Rifle from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine- St. Josephs Family Medicine Program in Patterson, NJ where she was the Chief Resident of the Dept. of Family Medicine. Dr. Walsh received her Doctorate of Medicine from St George’s University in Grenada. She and her husband, Michael Vargas, M.D. (who will join the Grand River Medical Team in 2013), look forward to moving to the area and enjoying all that Western Colorado has to offer.
“We are excited to bring Dr. Walsh into Grand River Primary Care. Her dedication to medicine and compassionate healthcare will be noticed by patients of all ages. Dr. Medina has been practicing medicine in Colorado for several years, most recently as General Surgeon with Surgical Specialists of Colorado in Denver. Dr. Medina also served as Vail Valley Medical Center’s Chief of Surgery from 1998-2004. Dr. Medina received her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM and did her surgical residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. Dr. Medina and her children have relocated to New Castle.
“Dr. Medina brings a wealth of experience to our Medical Staff and Specialty Clinic. Her expertise and demeanor will complement our current general surgeons. We are looking forward to offering more accessible general surgery to our patients,” said Kame.
