Grand River Hospital Welcomes New Anesthesiologist, Dr. Brian Bernhardt

September 10, 2012, Rifle, Colorado: It is with great pleasure that Grand River Hospital District announces the addition of Anesthesiologist, Dr. Brian Bernhardt, to the Grand River Surgery team. Dr. Bernhardt began seeing patients at Grand River on September 10.

Dr. Bernhardt was born and raised in Rifle, and is the son of former local realtor, Carolyn Bernhardt.  He left to pursue his career in 1989 but returned often to visit with family and friends. He has recently relocated to Rifle with his wife of 10 years, Eve and his two year old daughter Faline.

Dr. Bernhardt received his Doctor of Medicine in 2008 from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he also completed his anesthesia residency.

“The resources and equipment at Grand River Hospital are incredible and it rivals what some of the most prestigious university hospitals in the country have.” says Bernhardt.

“We did an extensive nationwide search for this position and had several, very qualified physicians to choose from.  Dr. Bernhardt stood out as the outstanding candidate, and his being a native of the area is an added bonus.” adds Grand River Hospital Medical Director Dr. Gary Meyer.

“It is like a dream come true to be able to practice medicine in the town where I grew up.  I have truly missed this area and have been trying to find a way to return. I feel so very fortunate.” adds Bernhardt.

When not working, Dr. Bernhardt and his family enjoy travelling, horseback riding and skiing!  When asked what he is most looking forward to now that he is back home in Rifle, he responded “I look forward to sharing all this area has to offer with my family.  I am sure they will love it as much as I do.”
