November is American Diabetes Awareness Month!
Grand River Hospital and Medical Center Changing Lifestyles celebrates National Diabetes Awareness Month by welcoming the community to their annual health fair designed for those who have been diagnosed with diabetes. There will be many FREE screenings including: foot, dental, meter checks, blood pressure, fingerstick blood glucose and information on diabetes prevention including nutrition and exercise. For a low cost, coupons are available for participants to receive lab work for A1C, lipid panel and urine micro-albumin.
Annual Flu Shots are also available for a small cost.
When: Thursday, November 3 from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Where: St. Mary’s Catholic Church (7th and Birch in Rifle)
Changing Lifestyles at Grand River Hospital and Medical Center was created to ensure a healthy and happy community through positive lifestyle changes. The program encompasses diabetes management and prevention, bariatric surgery support and OPTIFAST, a medically monitored and proven weight loss system.

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that the staff and residents of E. Dene Moore Care Center invite you to attend a PlaneTree Information Session. E. Dene Moore Care Center is embarking on a journey that changes the way we deliver care and services to the individuals receiving long term and short term care at the care center. By becoming a PlaneTree affiliate, we will be joining an international network and will become a leader in person centered care.

Winter sport headgear is one of the best protections against serious injury while skiing or snowboarding. We at Grand River Hospital and Medical Center want to make sure that every child within our community has the proper protection while they are out on the slopes this winter.
Helmets are limited, you MUST reserve your helmet in advance by calling (970) 625-6433.
For children ages 3-17 who live in Rifle, Silt, New Castle and / or Parachute / Battlement Mesa
Helmet Fitting and Pickup will be Tuesday, November 8 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Grand River Hospital and Medical Center’s Divide Creek Conference Room (501 Airport Road in Rifle) * Child must be present in order to pick up the helmet as all helmets are fit tested to each child
Get fitted by the pro’s and take home your helmet that same day!
If you received a FREE helmet in the past through our program, please bring it in to recyle it.

As part of the Health & Happiness Series at Grand River, Dr. Wettstein will be presenting this month’s topic
“Type 2 Diabetes – Know Your Enemy”!
