Health & Happiness Wellness Series / Lunch & Learn: “Forks Over Knives” Documentary

August 9, 2012
12:00 pmto1:30 pm

Grand River Hospital District is passionate about empowering you to take charge of your health.  As part of Grand River’s mission to improve the health and well-being of our communities, we want to help you live long healthy lives. Attend this informational luncheon and gain knowledge on the healthy choices of a vegetable based diet over meat based diets.  Two out of every three of us are overweight. Cases of diabetes are exploding, especially amongst our younger population. About half of us are taking at least one prescription drug. Major medical operations have become routine, helping to drive health care costs to astronomical levels. Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the country’s three leading causes of death, even though billions are spent each year to “battle” these very conditions. Millions suffer from a host of other degenerative diseases.  “Forks Over Knives” examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods.

RSVP to GRHD Changing Lifestyles (970) 625-6200 (jcollinge@grhd.org) as a FREE lunch will be provided.

Grand River Meals on Wheels serves over 1,000 meals a month to home bound neighbors and seniors in need.  In an effort to create awareness for the ever increasing need of community support and volunteers, GRHD is encouraging women to get involved by “delivering” a meal to a fellow neighbor.  A women who lives here, works here, plays here, and volunteers here will ultimately grow as an individual by getting involved within their community.  “Meals on Heels” is that opportunity for women to volunteer just for a few hours and deliver a meal – “heels” optional!   If you are interested, contact GRHD Volunteer Services (970) 625-6423 (kpeck@grhd.org).
