Nutritional Services Cashier

POSITION TITLE: Nutritional Services Cashier

DEPARTMENT:  Nutritional Services

REPORTS TO: Nutritional Services Director

BASIC FUNCTION:  Greets customers including answering phones, receives and processes all payments according to standard procedures, informs customers about services available and assesses customer needs, Serves food in cafeteria, cleans hospital cafeteria and kitchen area as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Education:  Must be able to read, write, make simple calculations, and follow oral and written directions.  Must be able to communicate in English.  Some formal or on the job training in food service is desirable but not required.  Experience:  Previous food service training is desirable. Must possess good customer service background, must be able to get along with all types and classes of people.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use the hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.  Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  There may be exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.  Hazards include but are not limited to cuts, burns, slipping and tripping.  Works frequently in a hot and damp environment.
