Physician Assistant Gynecology

POSITION TITLE: Physician Assistant

DEPARTMENT:  Medical Clinics

REPORTS TO:  Director of Clinic Operations

BASIC FUNCTION:  Provides direct professional nursing care to patients.  To assess needs, incorporate plan, to provide medications and treatments under supervision of the physician, and to ensure that the total care of the patient is done.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Education:  Graduation from an approved program.  Required to possess a currently valid State of Colorado license to practice as a Physician’s Assistant and have IV certification.  Experience:   Prefer one year of professional nursing experience in a hospital or clinic setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Knowledge  of the nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.  Knowledge of organization policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.  Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.  Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.  Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.  Skill in preparing and maintaining records.  Participation in developing and maintaining relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.  Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.  Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.  Ability to communicate clearly.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  Frequent exposure to conditions common to a medical facility, such as exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and medical preparations.
